Fieldlab Industrial Reality shares knowledge through a Virtual Congress

The Fieldlab "Industrial Reality" organised a Virtual Reality Congress on Thursday 5 November during the multi-day event "VRDays Europe". The Fieldlab Industrial Reality is an industry consortium of 17 partners in AR/VR, which aims at cooperation and innovation between companies, government and knowledge institutions.

In this virtual congress, partners from the Industrial Reality Hub gave presentations on a 'hands-on approach' to achieve short-term results in XR implementations within industrial organisations. XR are combinations of Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality. Participants were able to walk around freely at the conference, while sitting at home. For this purpose, participants used VR glasses (Oculus Quest) or they could take participants from a PC. Visitors could also watch live via YouTube!

Platform behind the congress was Connec2, the congress was part of the 'Meet the Platforms' programme of VRDays Europe 2020. Initiator Bart Kok, of Connec2 looks back on a phenominal virtual event in Connec2, where almost 50 participants in virtual reality and a few hundred visitors via livestream!

The event was presented by Lucas Harbers from 'OVSoftware' and two breakout sessions by Industrial Reality Hub partners Maurice Kruse from 'Total Reality' and Marjo Nieuwenhuijse and Evelien Ydo from 'Serious VR'.

The interest in the activities and possibilities with the Industrial Reality Hub became clear during the interactive moments. The Hub has the Dutch fieldlab status and has been recognised by the European Commission as a Digital Innovation Hub for industrial AR/VR. The focus of the Hub has been sharing knowledge, working together and being able to start immediately with a solution to an issue from the market.
